Our commitment
Built to be used by everyone.
Carrie’s wants every guest to be able to read the list, find the hours, and get in touch, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we treat that as a floor rather than a finish line.
What that looks like here
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the element you are on is always visibly marked.
- Text and the dark background meet or exceed the contrast the guidelines call for, including the small print.
- Every photograph has a written description. Ornaments are hidden from screen readers.
- Pages have a skip link, one clear heading structure, and landmarks a screen reader can jump between.
- The Library can be searched, its sections open and close from the keyboard, and results are announced.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the site turns its animation off.
- Text can be enlarged to 200 percent without anything being cut off.
Known limits
The map card links out to Google Maps, which we do not control. The Library follows our printed pour list, so a bottle can sell out before the page catches up. If you find something else in your way, we want to hear about it.
In the bar
- The entrance from the sidewalk is step-free, and the floor is level throughout, bar to lounge.
- There is an accessible restroom.
- Tables in the lounge suit a wheelchair, so nobody has to sit at the counter.
- Accessible parking is close by.
- Service animals are welcome.
- Ask and the staff will read the list aloud or bring a large-print copy.
If you have a question we have not answered here, call before you visit and we will tell you exactly what to expect.
Tell us
Call 913-738-5800 during open hours or send a message through the contact form. Tell us the page and what got in the way, and we will fix it or find you another way to the same information.
